Truck cutting out at high speeds?
Hello a couple of days ago i was wanting to see how fast my truck would go and i got up to around 100 mph and my truck started to cut out and sound like it was shutting off what would this be, just my truck shutting off or does my year of truck not expose to shut off? Idont think it was fuel pressure becuase my fuel pressure was around 13 to 12 psi so it wouldnt be fuel pressure i dont think?

do you remember what your rpms were 1989 - 1998 160, 175, 180 HP engines = 2700 RPM (No Load High Idle = 3000 RPM)
1996 - 1998 215 HP = 2800 RPM (No Load High Idle = 3000 RPM)
1998+ ISB = 3200 RPM (No Load High Idle = 3500 RPM)
The "governed speed" is the highest speed at which you can get real power. At engine speed higher than the governed speed, the power drops off VERY quickly.
