Hello , Everyone Im new here.. Well i have a 99 dodge 24 valve with 105,000 miles, it died on me the other night and wont start it turns over and acts like it wants fire up but just wont.. uhm the lift pump u can still hear it kick on i even put my hand on it to see if i can feel the motor runnin it was .. i cracked open a injector line from the head and turn it over its getting fuel to there but dunno if its enough. I had a buddie come with a scanner it flashed a P1688 code not sure whats going on its got me lost... Can anyone help me out or maybe point something out i might of looked over or not checked yet before i go replacing a injection pump & lift pump ???

check it again and see if its P1688M

my book shows nothing for P1688

 

P1688 is one of the death codes for the VP-44. I believe its the timing error code.

I would clear the code and check fuel pressure.

 

sounds like VP44 failed

 

when you crack your injector line, is it a high pressure spray, or does it seem like the same amount coming out of your lift pump?
