Default guess what broke this time

i pulled out from a stop sign earlier today, and when it shifted into second, the back tires started to spin, i was only at half throttle on a wet road, was not driving hard, well when it broke lose, i let off the throttle all the way, and when it caught, i heard a loud bang. now i dont have any gears, but park still works.

my guess is the input shaft since park still works.

what all needs to be done when one breaks, i know input shaft, and ill send the TC off to get checked ad stuff, but does the pump need changed?

Some output shaft breaks will still seem to hold park. Just depends on if the shaft is bound up. We have loaded trucks onto trailers with broken input shafts, so don't diagnose it just yet.

You may get lucky with a broken input and just lose the shaft. It's common for the pump and converter to get damaged as well. Check that 4th gear piston support as well!

well, the trans is sittin in the floor.

i pulled the transfer case off before i pulled the trans, and it looked fine, i can put it in 4wd and when u spin the input, to the transfer, both the front and rear spin.

well the out put shaft looks fine, couldent spin it with it in park sittin there.

so out comes the trans, pull the TC off the front, input shaft looks good, no problems, put it in gear, when u spin the input, out put turns.

what do yall think it might be now?

broken axleshaft or spider gears in the rear end might be possable

i went back down to the shop before leaving for dinner, my dad is the one who was at the front of the trans when we were messin with it earlier, and when i went back down, i grabbed the input shaft, and turned it, u can feel it grinding, and u can wiggle it around inside there. so it may still be the input shaft.

i know it is not, or when i put it in 4wd, it still would have moved via the front axel pulling. but thanks for the sugestion

got it apart, it looks like the hub broke, and caused the input shaft to strip out.
