hey im about to buy a 2001 cummins and im a powerstroke guy so this is all new to me, i dont know to much about this moter so can you all tell me what downloader or prgramer to buy, also it has 90,000 miles and its auto so let me know what you guys think, thanks

 

Dodge has a very weak transfer pump that has been responsible for many VP44 failures. At the minimum put a fuel pressure gauge into it, but a FASS or AirDog would be best.
My 01 has 304,000Km's on it, and the trans was done just before I bought it 60,000Kms ago. It was built stronger, but exactly I don't know. The Auto's are weak compared to the Manuals, and depending on how much power you are looking to push, may need a good build, or replacement.
Seems like the most common electronic power increasing products bought are the Edge Attitude with Juice, or Adrenaline Quadzilla. I have the Edge, and I love it!! Smartys also seem popular, but do not have the display features of boxes like the Edge Attitude.

The engine it's self will last forever, as long as you treat it decent.

sounds like he has got it all right there for ya bud. ill add that if you are looking to plug and play then the edge Juice with Attitude is the way to go, the Quad Adr w/Pulse allows you to cutom tune to your truck and you can play around to see what works best
