Update
Update on this thread:
To make the reverse lights function properly you will need to find the 3 wire harness from the automatic trans wiring harness and hook it up to the back up light switch on the manual trans. I had a problem finding a plug to fit the back up light switch and found that the 2 wire plug off the front axel for the 4x4 on any 94-02 ram will work. After hooking up the reverse lights ground out the remaining wire and the truck will start with the key like normal.

I'm thinking about a NV 5600 from a 2wd to go in a 4X4 auto. Is this going to be a huge headache or will it match up to the t case and I just have to change the input shaft? The locker in my 2wd makes traction better, but I miss 4wd. I can pick up a 4X4 truck for ~2k and a nv5600 for ~1500. Then I figure when I get done; I can sell the auto. I know it will be a ton of work, but well worth it in the end. I'll probably even make a few bucks. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey Guys,
New to this site but I stumbled across this thread looking for info on swapping my V10 to a diesel. Regardless, I completed a similar swap this past summer on a 5.9 gas V8 - went from a 46RE to a 5 Speed manual and took a million pictures along the way- even though mine was a gas truck, the wiring is the same on both.
In order to get your cruise control to work correctly, you can't ground out that wire, it needs to go to your clutch/nuetral safety switch. Every truck has this switch (yes the auto's) and is located near the emergency brake on your truck.
I took pictures of the plug that comes from the tranny and also the plug that needs to be wired into your clutch pedal. Hope this helps:
