Default What is this part? Trying to chase down an oil leaK

O.K. so I'm trying to chase down this damn oil leak after tightening my oil pan bolts and plug I cleaned as much of the oil off as I could. I noticed this thing was kinda soaked but it might be from the previous mess or the recent oil change. Looks like the drain plug is still leaking slightly, but this thing looks flimsy and is kept on the metal tube with a normal hose clamp. what exactly is it and what does it do? does it require maintenance? Thanks guys

Is it on the turbo side of the engine, or intake side?? If the turbo side, looks like a crappy drain tube repair. Intake side, looks like it could be a breather bottle fix.

The oil drain tube is suppose to be all metal and all it's for is oil that lubes the turbo is drained back into the oil pan. What could happen, clamps loosen, causing an oil leak, and well there you sit. Run down to Cummins, and pick a new one up. Can't be more than $50.

Ok will do.. Looked on Ebay and they have a used one that has the same length of hose mine has. Is this one jerry rigged too or did they come with the hose on the end in 2 pieces? Is this a common failure or fix? The part I found on ebay is in the link below.

If you can, I'd replace it with a flexible one, as shown here.

Should be able to get one from Cummins. Just need to get the length, diameter, and flange size of the stock one, and they should be able to hook you up.

If you can wait for daylight tomorrow I'll look at my 99 and see what's there and let ya know. To damn dark and cold for me tonight and from the pic, it's to close up for me to be able to think of what it's of.
