well thats great now do you have any ideas on my popping back fireing rough running cummins motor at idle its like it is missing

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Could that popping be the quadzilla or is it a sensor like the crank or cam or could it be the lifters needing adjusted and will that roughness hurt any thing i dont have any problems while driveing just at idle

You have not tryed unhooking the Quadzilla yet First thing you ever do is elimanate the computer made power. but after that.
I know valves on my bikes will do this when theres problems, if you have over 180000 you should chek them anyways. it easy after you find TDC
but other than that id be checking injectors

im not sure around here, but if you ever do any of your own work you should all ready have a chiltns of hayns manual there cheep(20$) and at any good parts store and it has almost everything you need for anything on your truck, I have seen this kinda problems with a 12 valve that a bud brought to me to fix and I could not tell you what fix it for sure cause we replaced the head gasket so anything up top was checked and cleaned up

no adjusting valves is just time, if all is good with them Id atleast check them. but first get rid of the programer and see what that dose im guessing its that, and probly just the vp44 responce to the chip if it is iv never seen any long term problems with it. but get a manual too

yea well i went out and warmed the truck up with the chip unploged and it threw 6 codes i cleared them started it and the codes never came back and it never poped once then after a bit i hooked the quad back up still no codes started it and let it warmed up more and still nothing so as of now its not doing it still jumps between 900 and 1k grand rpms but runs smooth now the motor wasnt to its full running temp but it was about 160temp wise

I very much doubt valves are the problem - but since you asked, there are instructions here:

B Series Valve Adjustment
