Default Headlights Flicker at Idle

Today I noticed twice that just after I start up and turn my headlights on my lights seem to flicker every now and than from bright to less bright. My volt guage on the dash seemed about 13.5-14 till I started driving the first time but a few munutes ago after I started up the volts seemed to be around 11 till it eventually caught up to 14. I only noticed it today the 2 times I started up after I got to work. Can it be the cold weather? It just recently started getting cold in my area this week, its about 40-45*
Any help or ideas would be appreciated since the volts get up to 14 I thought it woulnt be the alternator.
Thanks!

my truck does the same thing when its below 40 or 50 degrees outside. I have changed an alterator and that didn't fix it. I have just lived with it for at least two years now.Once the engine warms slightly it quits do it.

I think I figured it out...Below 50* the grid heater will cycle while the trucks running I have heard wich is cool because I thought it was just for pre startup. So as the heater cycles it draws current thus making the lights flicker and the voltmeter seem low sometimes.
Correct me if I'm wrong anyone but I just got this info and just realized it, still curious though

It would be a little scary if you had never seen that before. Us northerners see it many times in the course of a day, let alone a drive to work.

Cheers.
