what does fuel pressure need to be on vp44?

You will know that your diaphragm in the VP44 is damaged if you put a new pump on and your truck don't start. The instructions with the FASS unit says if after installation your truck won't start then disconnect power to it so it doesn't pressure up as your trying to start it and if it fires the Diaphragm has been damaged. I'm not positive but I think plus 20 psi can damage the diaphragm in the VP44 also.

The return spring on the VP likes a steady 17PSI while crusing. At this level, you will at least be getting some return flow to the tank keeping the VPs temperature down. Once this closes, it's like boiling crabs. The heat is on and the temp is coming up...
10 while hitting it... 17 while crusing and 15 median is a good rule of thumb.
