Default 47RE to 48RE Transmission in 99 Dodge 2500 CTD

My 47RE transmission finally died and I have the opportunity to purchase a newer 48RE at a very fair price. Will a 48RE trans install in to my 99 Dodge 2500 CTD that currently has a 47Re in it without any modifications both mechanically and/or electrically/electronically? I need to know ASAP please. Thanks!

It will mount up but as for controlling it I am pretty sure you will need a PCS controller and Suncoast's custom valvebody. The 48RE, as decent as it is, in stock form still is not the best set up and a mildly built 47 will walk on a 48. If it were me, I would just fix the 47.

how much is a "fair price?" You might be able to buy a new one for a fair price as well. SunCoast and Goerend are fairly priced replacements to the 47.

It'll bolt in.

The only real differences are very minor internally and the biggest one is that the alum planetary in the 47RE is a steel 5 pinion in the 48RE.
