Default 98.5 24v died. won't start.

ok first off, no he dosen't have a fuel pressure gauge and no i don't know what the pressure is, the fuel pump runs, i get PLENTY of fuel.

pulled 4 codes, one was for the fuel tank sender unit, one for a BUS failure between the VP44 and one p1693 (don't know why he remembered this number and not the others) and one other i can't remember.

gets fuel to the pump, gets fuel out of 3 injector tubes, number 6 and 5 none came out of, and 1,3,4 had plenty of fuel coming from them. 2 none cause i couldn't get behind the air horn.

he said he pulled up to his shop after an hour or so drive with trailer and race car in tow, turned the truck off, went inside opened up the bay door, opened the gate, went to crank the truck, fired up then instantly after that died. won't crank, motor turns over just no fire. i figured with 3 injectors getting fuel it "should" fire off.... it might not be healthy but it should fire off none the less.... also he has a "leakL on top of the fuel tank. he might be sucking air cause the fuel sounds kind of bubbly ish if you know what i mean when you listen to it at the fuel filter canister. stock EVERYTHING, including the lift pump mopunted on the frame rail/motor.... oh and it has 285K miles

Ive never heard of a code for the fuel tank sender....

Need the actual numbers. And has a scanner been on this truck or did he use the key on/off deal?

"Could" be the VP-44....

i put the scanner on it, AutoXray Code Scout 250. he forgot to write the codes down as i pulled them and cleared them and when i type "he" i mean me unless i type "he" then that might represent him as in the owner of the truck.

he is going to pull the bed off this week to address any fuel leaks that might be between the tank and pump as he said he saw some fuel leaking down the front of the fuel tank from the top of it.

i done told him it was either the VP or the computer......

Don't mess with the bed, have him drop the tank. This way he can clean the tank out while he's at it. Use these directions and it's a simple thing. https://www.dieselbombers.com/24-val...-easy-way.html

Sounds to me like the IP's trashed if it's runnin dry only on certain cylinders.
