Default fuel problems!!!!!

2001 24v, 4in exhaust, bhaf and the previous owner has some kinda tune on the computer, have no idea what but its mild. i cant talk to him cause i bought my truck threw a dealer. any ways here is my fuel problems to the best that i can remember. oh yea have 160k miles

started having problems starting when the motor was warmed up. then shortly after the lp went out. change lp got an airtex and a set of gauges. ran great for about 2 weeks. then the hard start came back but my fuel psi was around 17 idle 12-13 wot. then the starting kept getting harder when the motor was warm. then i noticed my psi getting around 25 psi idle, 19psi cruising and 10 psi wot. then im comin home and notice 6 psi and dropping had to idle 10 miles home to keep about 7 psi. get a new lp this time they gave me the old school one instead of the airtex style. when i bled the lines and started it up it read 0 psi then slowly climbed to 10 psi occasionaly it would rise to 12 but never higher? and now it is at 6psi? im gonna get an airdog as soon as i get money but is it the lp or something else? oh and ive only had this current lp 2 days. put about 100 miles on it and only a slight hard start when warm. i checked the lines and they are not kinked. any help would be appriciated.

Take it to an Auto Zone or someplace and have the codes checked, it's free at those places. If there are any, write them down and then have them clear them. Come back tell us what they found and then a few days later have them checked again. I really suspect what your gonna find wrong here is a bad Injector pump.

yea im suspect of the vp too. i have an obd2 reader among countless other tools as soon as i find it i will check the codes. i have been hoping that the vp isnt toast cause i wont have the money for a new one for a couple months. what gets me, is it runs fine just starts hard when warm and the psi is low. why would the vp make the lp psi low? im new to diesels but not new to making things go fast. my uncle has the same truck as mine except his is black and weak. no it has way more hp than mine just put that on there cause im sure he is gonna read this.

The P1693 code is a companion code which sits inside the ecm that does not clear itself after another code has been present . See if you can get a scan tool and scan for more codes.

The other thing to think about here before you call the IP toasted is the regulator valve on it, It's the Banjo Bolt on the outgoing fuel of the IP. Sometimes it sticks open or closed and will jack with pressures becuase it's returning to much fuel to the tank like an open hose. If it stuck shut it would cause high fuel pressure readings because of the increased restriction.

P0216 generally means your buying a new injector pump. Clear it and see what happens.

Hard start when warm and white smoke are classic signs of a dead injector pump. Good luck.

uncle bubba, i took the bolt out cleaned it with two stroke oil then blew it out with compressed air, started up and my psi went up to 19 psi for a couple of seconds then bounced around and went back to twelve and stayed at 12 at idle. im gonna try and replace that it seem to work for a few seconds then go back to normal. do you have a part number? if i tell autozone what im looking for they will never find it.
