Might have bad news, P0216 code today, what do you think?
Start off by explaining my set up...Last august I replaced my IP. I went with a stock replacment lift pump from schucks ran in series with a BD lift pump. The BD lift pump is ran by a toggle switch I turn it on with inside the cab. Well after installing my ball joints this last weekend I needed an alignment so I took it into Les Schwab today to get an alignment. I didn't tell the mechanic about the switch. When he was done he told me the truck acted like it was going to die. I knew right then it was because he didn't turn the switch on and the stock lift pump alon can't suck through enough fuel to feed the IP. So on the way home I decieded to stop by autozone and borrow an OBD2 because it had been awhile since I'd scanned it. Well sure enough i got P1693 and P2016. I about puked. I was thinking though, it's only been ten months since I replaced the IP, and I've always had about 20ish psi fuel pressure. So could starving the IP of gas for that short amount of time cause it to through that code? Or am I really f*cked again?

I took it in and checked the codes again, so far nothing. I've only drove about 30 miles or so though. I'm thinking that if the truck had low enough pressure to make it feel like it was dying, the VP44 must have been starved for fuel which would have thrown of it's timing and made that code come up. There is no way it could be bad. I get 25psi into the vp44, which I'm hoping isn't too much. What I'll probably do here soon is just take out the stock llift pump and just run the BD lift pump by itself. It pushes like 12-14 psi by itself. I'll probably wait until the stoc one dies. Unless 25psi is too much for the vp44, then I'll do it right away.

25 is too high? I've heard back and forth on this. What's the answer? I'll start another thread, I want to get some opinions on this. I'm thinking about just running the one BD pump but I was going to wait until the stock dies. If 25 is too high though I might do it sooner. So we'll see...
