Default Covered in grease, need quick answer Pleeeeeeease...

I just put new upper and lower ball joint on and now the damn brake caliper won't go back on. The brake must have been pushed while it was off. So what is an easy way to get the caliper to open back up so I can get it???

I use a big c-clamp to push the caliper back in. I don't know what else you could use if you don't have a c-clamp big enough. If you just did ball joints I imagine you have something large enough to have pressed them in with.

Oh yeah...I might be able to use the ball joint press. It's kind of a big c clamp.
Sweet thanks. I'll give it a shot real quick.

Pull the cap off the brake reservoir to relieve the pressure and it should push back in pretty easy.

when you do this ya should use the bleeder screw on the caliper itself rather than pushing the oil back into the resivor

Tighten the bleeder screw before removing clamp

I already got it, hope I didn't f*ck anything up doing it that way. Breaks still work though. Thanks everyone.

Me... I would just use a large screwdriver and light pry the pistons back.

Or...

The C-clamp idea is really common.

As for pushing the fluid back to the MC I can't see the harm in it being the fluid naturally returns to the MC after you release the brake pedal every time.

I have ruined 2 master cyls by not opening the bleeder screw. I know it had something to do with pushing too much fluid back too fast. I don't run into problems when I go slow.
