Default Stock Turbo Wastegate Question

Been tinkering with the wastegate cause I don't think I'm gettin the boost pressures I should be getting. I can only move the wastegate rod about a 1/4 inch. Is this normal or should it be moving more than that.

By hand I can't budge it. I wedged a screwdriver in there and used that to move it back and forth.

This thing is goin back together in the morning to start pullin hay trailers in, so is the common concensus that my gate is opening and closing the full distance or should it be moving more than this. It always springs back in place so that it is pushed into the diaphram, I am hoping this is right. Sorry for the stupid questions but I don't know squat about turbo's. I have rebuilt and replaced most everything on this truck myself except inside the engine and the turbo. Now I'm workin on figuring it out.

Is your truck and Automatic tranny. I know the HY35's can be turnbuckled shut but I can't find anything on this that I would hook it to. It's just a straight rod, on one end is a 1/2 inch long swivel that sits flush with the exhaust housing and the other end goes into the diaghram. So this doesn't leave anything I can see to hook to.

I would be hesitant to block a wastegate unless it is a race truck. I have no theory on that just a gut feeling.

Unmodified my WG, turbo, intercooler, intake, FASS 150 and 150HP injectors only get me 29 pounds of boost under really hard acceleration so adding a programmer like an EDGE would fool the boost limit some.

Which brings me full circle you probably have an issue with your COMP. Confirm you have it set right and try again before throwing money at this.

How can you modify the wastegate to allow the engine to create more boost pressure. Its for a buddies 2001?
