Gas milage - dually vs 4 wheels
Is there a huge difference between the gas mileage of a dually and that of a 4 wheel? I'm looking at one that's all set up to pull my 5th wheel but not sure if it's worth it in the long run.

I wouldnt think there would be any more than a 1 or 2 mpg difference. If you have a big trailer the dual rears are a lot more stable on curvey roads. If the camper isnt that big a dually might be overkill. just my .02
Well the biggest factor is speed. The second factor is tire size.
If you drive fast and have oversized tires then your going to loose your MPG quickly. But like myself I gave up my 265/75 R16 for 235/85 R16 and gain about another 1 to 2 MPG on average. Then if I drive right around 55-60 MPH I can pull 21-23 MPG (I'm 3/4 ton). Even my buddy with his 92 Cummins (Dually 1 ton) is pulling right around 20-21 MPG empty.
