Default TC Lockup...Not working...

Ok so i did the lockup switch on my truck. when i take off, get into second, switch on. truck shifts into third and then nothing. stays in third. won't shift into fourth. then when i turn switch off. it still won't shift up or down, so i have to stop, truck off. then on and all is good. then do it all over again. any ideas? Correct me if i'm wrong. center plug, splice in and then to switch and ground.......

WT is your trans stock?I see nomentionof any trans upgrade in the sig. THis had happened to be before where the "Boost" valve in the VAlve body itself had fallen out. The keepers or lock if you will does a crappy job of holding it in place when that lil guy is inder alot of pressure. SAme exact scenereo shifts fine everywhere ... just no lockup ... forcing lockup with the switch won't lock the tc either.

In my truck I have a Smart controller that is fully adjustable and I could see that the PCM was calling for lockup but nothing happened. Sure enough that little valve had fallen.

The converter is stock. Have a SUNCOAST valve body/Shift kit in it. Anything i should watch out for?

That stock converter will ... not so much may ... will slip and baloon itself to death. The amount of fluid shear the oem stator in the converter creates carries that heat even in lockup for a bit. That heat coupled with the enemic clutch surfaces in the converter when locked barely have the holding strength even with mild power. Man with these trucks its full trans or nuthin' ... I learned that @ 400 miles old back in 01 when 400HP was "insane power"

So your should replace the Tq Converter? Not really wanting to spend alot of $$$. What would be a good Converter to go with?

By not wanting to spend now .... the bill WILL be alot bigger later. If you snap your input shaft (And you are headed that way with lift, tires, and adding power and STOCK TRUCKS can snap inputs) open the wallet ... wide. All it takes is frag to make its way through the trans and gall up a intemediate shaft or drum. It isn't just the converter that is the weak link. (all be it the most feeble LOL)

If you go and put in a converter without having a lot of the means needed to handle any sort of power is kinda like putting on Air Jordans with Socks that have been wet for days and stepped in dog crap on day 2. You feel the difference right away as you go from what 72% efficiency to 88-96% depending on what brand offers what. And with that comes the need for the right internal parts to make the trans hold together and get you the miles out of it that you should get out of it.
