Default 1/2 ton fuel tank

Any of you guys have the 26 gallon fuel tank in your truck. I assumed when I bought the truck it would have the 34 but it will only hold 26 gallons from empty.

I get around 450 or so to the tank. IS there any way i can fix this. The tank looks bigger than my old trucks 26 gallon tank. I have had the truck for three years and have always wondered about this.

should be a 34 or 35 gallon tank, how long do you run it after the low fuel light comes on? mine usually comes on when i have a about 6 gallons left at least that's what i'm assuming becuase I try to fill it up asap when the light comes on and it usually takes anywhere from 29 gallons to 31 depending on when i can fuel up

To be honest I rarlely let it get below a 1/4 tank, but when it gets real close to empty i can never get more than 26 gallons in it

Like Tim says, you have a 34 gallon tank,it just says you are emptier than you are.
My light comes on at 26 gal,but it will run out 34 gallons or so. (hard to start when you do that....)

And to elaborate on this. The sending units on theese trucks have been known to be fickle as all getout. Gary from the TDR Did one of his "Anatomy of" threads that sums it up pretty well as to what Is going on when it is doing what it is supposed to be doing. ... and doesn't.

The floats are also another issue as they just simply dissintergrate (Ugh spelling) in the tank over time.

mine does the exact same thing, shows it being lower then it trully is, max i can get in mine is between 25-27 if i fill up on the 1/4 mark every time, i have never and will never let it run low enough to trip the light. just not something i like to do. anyway, when i dropped my tank to put the draw straw in i noticed that the float even at empty stayed bout 2-3 inches above the bottom of the tank.
