AAPS or VP44
I've read all morning on this and still cant figure out which I need.
I have an 02 CTD, FASS lift pump, Edge/attitude, KN FIPK, Goerend tranny and TC. I had about 12 deadpedals on my truck after really romping on it to pass a semi in the mountains. This isnt the first dead pedal, but have never had it back to back to back like it did this time. I've also noticed a surge in the engine when running a steady rpm down the road. Doesnt register on my tach or show any diff in fuel pressure. Doesnt do it all the time, usually happens when its real cold outside. I run PS to keep the fuel from gelling so dont think its a gel issure. The only dead pedals I've ever had was hard pulling in the mountains with a trailer. It's only happened to me a couple times in the last year and always goes away. I really dont want to buy a VP44 and hope it is the APPS, but how do you know???? Thanks for the help.

This is a failed method of adjustment is no better than twisting the set screw on the stops. The method DOES NOT verify the idle validation switches at all. It just sets the voltage which is wrong...
No where in that procedure does it check for te state of either switch. So as most jack up the voltage to match again the switch state is screwed up.
If you got a APPS error code the APPS is wore out and adjustment isn't going to fix it...

did you ever try the cruise control?
FWIW I've had my truck throw a 0216 code when I was having dead pedal problems as well. Turned out the APPS was bad and that has been over a year ago and my pump is still fine.
It is bad sign for you however. Most people equate 0216= VP death. and in most causes that is probably true.
