Default Rotors???

just a question can you turn the front rotors on these thrucks and does removal of the rotor require taking off the hub assembly?

Generally, you cannot. The rotors are fairly cheap anyway.

Make sure you buy rotors that are MADE IN THE USA. The cheap ones from overseas warp easily as they do not have enough expertise to smelt metal properly.

I cant tell you exactly how they come off on an 02. On my 98 (which I think is a bit different), the rotor and hub come off together. You unbolt the rotor from the hub, press out the studs and install them into the new rotor. Replace the hub (if its good) and reinstall.

Generally, a big pain...and it REALLy helps if you have an air compressor and 1/2" impact.

Even if you could turn them, which technically speaking as long as they are within tolerances you can, it's not worth it. For all the pain to do it the price difference makes it not worth it. Personally I don't turn any rotors on anything and i get it done for free. Just buy new and only do it once.

I don't turn rotors at all, mine have had about 3 sets of pads on them, next time I'm going to put new ones on.
On my 01 3500 you have to unbolt the dual wheel adapter, moms 2500 just pull the wheel off, pull the caliper off,and the bracket and the rotor just comes off (like yours will I imagine)

Another thing to remember - buy cheaper brake pads. The expensive ones with the 50000 mile warranty are harder and will wear out your rotors much sooner. Its much easier to replace the pads than the rotors, JMO.

Thread from way back, I know, but does anyone have a good explanation or pics of the pressing the studs out part? I've never done this and am about to install new rotors.
