Default Tach Issues

Any ideas why my tach won't work after starting truck. Once I drive it and get over about probably 2000 RPM it starts working?

My '06 Dodge did some screwy stuff - tach read 0 at idle and read like 4500 at 70 mph in 6th gear. Did it for a couple of weeks and then when back to good (didn't feel like chasing wires) I figure it was a loose connection

could be something with the computer, or gunk on the sensor

So the tach runs off a sensor, and not the alternator?

Hey thanks. It has 116000 miles on it. Truck has been in storage since February 05' and I started it for first time since in October 08'. It has several issues now. 1. Tach, 2. Fuel Gauge doesn't work, 3. Troublecode for an over efficient turbo.
