Ok on my way to the desert, I stopped for the last fuel stop. Looked under truck to see a small puddle of trans fluid, I went by autozone got some fluid and drove the 20 miles to camp, just got back to 29 palms to my cabin and found it!

The cooler lines had rubbed on the cross rail right next to the motor.
I have to drive to l.a. In the morning so is there an easy way to fix it temporarily?
Looses only about 2 quarts every 100 miles. Bit the under side of my truck now has engine and tranny fluids! And and more oil for the driveway.

get a piece of 1/2" ID rubber hose (i think that is the line size) cut a piece of it that is an inch or two longer than the section of line with the hole in it. then slice the piece of rubber hose you just cut from end to end making it where it can slip over the tranny line. make sure it fits snug. if not you might have to cut a thin piece off where you just cut the hose from end to end. then put the hose over the affected area, and position the long cut in the hose 180* from where the hole in the tranny line is. then use however many clamps (worm drive type) it takes to clamp from one end to the other with the clamps side by side the whole length of the hose. tighten the crap out of them. it should hold till you can get to a lowes and make a coupler or get another line from a J/Y or the dealer.....

 

That was the plan! That's what I did, we'll how well she holds now!
Didn't know if anyone has come up with anything better!
I also put a little epoxy on it to help stick.
Now off to price cooler lines! Thanks Q

 

just cut the line near the trans and the cooler and run trans friendly rubber flex line and get rid of the steel line. don't go a price new line it will make you sad. Ed

check the rest of the line they tend to rub and where out. Ed

 

The patch didn't work , but I found it @ autozone for 30 bucks! I hope its the right one. Looked at the diagram and description.

If not will high pressure power steering hose work?
Have about 4' laying around from a diffrent project!

 

rubber line will work fine trans lines are not that high pressure look at where they plug into the trans cooler they are rubber.

 

So the dealer just called me!
Computers were down for almost 2 days.
40$ for the line with a new hose end! I got it from them! Autozone needed 5 days, not that bad! Plus my discount ! Made it better than autozone anyways!

Should be fixxed tomarrow!

 

I've done the rubber hose thing before with good results. When I did it I shoved a phillips screwdriver about 1/4" into each end of the steel line and rotated it around a few times to flare the end of the steel line. This helps alot with the seal.

 

just put all new lines on my truck from the dealer over $300 cnd. but the new trans. cost me $2600 so the lines are well worth the money IMO
