Default Starter Kickback

When I shut down there is a sound kind of like the starter is getting spun by the flywheel just a bit. It could be something else but I don’t have any idea what. Any thoughts?

Yeah,describe the sound!
The belt chirps, and if you've got a large exhaust with a straight pipe you can hear the turbo winding down..

It isn’t belt squeal that I’m hearing. I’ve been hearing that for the past few thousand or so shutdowns and that sound hasn’t changed any.
What I’m hearing stops too soon to be the turbo. It kind of sounds like when the engine does the kickback on shutdown, it catches the starter gear and spins the starter just a bit. The sound will last for less than a second.
I’m headed out on a run to FL. today and I won’t have time to reply till I get back.

I took off the starter when I got back from Florida and checked it out. The spring on the starter gear is very weak and I can see wear marks on the gear where it was hitting the flywheel when the engine shakes and kicks back during shutdown. I took it to the starter shop and the guy said not only was the spring shot the front bearing and housing is worn out.
