What code are you talking about? There is no code - a #53 block is a specific casting of the Cummins ISB block that was cast in Brazil. It is a problem because the block wall is half as thin as it was supposed to be and it cracks after so many heat cycles:

Yeah the 53 is located in 3 spots from my memory. drivers side under the PS pump. the passenger side, by the frost plug and even sometimes close to the rear of the block where the auto trans cooler would be.

it is not all bad.

again, keep in mind that "53" blocks were used in several applications besides dodge trucks with rare cracking, again, some 53s are worse then others.
