Default Lift pump

Looked for my lift pump today to remover it before the new comes in the mail but it's not behind the canister just a metal block with lines connected to it where the lift pump should be. Could I mount the new pump there or is the original pump located in the fuel tank?
Thanks all advice is appreciated!

If you have a metal block where it should be mounted on the side of the block then you have the in-tank lift pump. Also you will need a draw straw or sump to fully connect the new lift pump.

Could I just make my own straw for it? And also do I leave the old in tank pump alone or do I pull it out bc the pump I'm receiving is a stock carter lift pump

Im sure you could rig up a straw. But you will need to bypass the factory system to make it work. As well as move the wiring from the tank to the block.

If you're going to use a stock lift pump (big mistake) you might want to at least relocate it to the frame near the tank. There are kits for that.
That stock lift pump setup is the number one known deficiency with these trucks.

Okay and yes I understand but this one was given to me with only 10k on it and it'll help me get by till I start work and get like a ddrp would the existing in tank pump aid in pressure or would it restrict flow and also would i have to get new wiring for the pump and I finally picked up a fuel filter that will fit my truck a baldwin pf7777

A dead in tank pump will restrict flow. That's the reasoning for a draw straw or sump.
