24 valve tining cover gasket

24 valve tining cover gasket
I was told today that the so-called "timing" cover on my 2000 Dodge is the source of my oil leak.
Not having been inside one of these engines before I hear from web sources that there is a big difference between the 12 valve and 24 valve in this area? From what I see on Ebay it appears that the 24 valve cam gear IS removable and that the cam itself does NOT have to be removed in order to do this job - is that correct?
So, in order to re-seal the cover/s on the front of the engine what is entailed, time-wise?
Again, this is a 2000 24 valve - NOT a 12 valve.
Thanks to anyone who has done this job.
