Stock nv4500 243xxx miles just drained it but can't figure out what oil to get. Cant afford to pay $41 a quart from local stealership. Any suggestions?? Also black oil on bottom inside of case.

 

They no longer make the Castrol syntorque. I just replaced mine with Mobil Delvac SAE 50wt GL-4. It has made my shifts easier and temps run about the same.

What fluid did you order?

 

I believe it's rebottled redline 75w-85 in quads own packaging says it supposed to exceed or meet the specs for the nv4500.

 

I use Valvoline synchromesh it's GL-4,GL-5 MTF. I have also tried royal purple but didn't like it.

 

Its usually available at NAPA or those other guys .

 

Yeah the main thing is to make sure its a GL-4 rated gear oil.

 

Have you ever tried the royal purple stuff? what did you think? its expensive as hell.

 

I have for engine oil (in my charger and my old Silverado) and currently running it in my rear axle Royal Purple 75W95 with LSD additive. I haven't had any issues out of it and can feel in my head that the vehicles seem a little happier, but that's just more of a subconscious thing.
