chiping My 2001 5.9 227.+miles
thinking about installing a chip in My 2001 dodge 5.9 diesel, motor has 50k miles , truck has 227+k on it. I need a little more to tow our fifth wheel. Had 50 over injectors in but took them out to much smoke on and in the trailer. but had good towing power. will a chip be a bad thing for the miles on the truck we use it as a DD also. thanks ..

Go with the Edge. I had the superchips in my truck and hated it. I then bought the Edge EZ. I love this chip. Makes good power. I've never had any issues with a lack of power to haul. Gave me some better fuel mileage as long as you're not wide open throttle all the time. I brought a car back from Indianapolis to Pittsburgh. Drove between 70 and 75 mph the whole way back and got around 17 mpg out of it. Heading out to get the car was around 20.5 with an empty trailer. They are decently prices on amazon. Also found with the superchips in my wife's truck it gave here a trans issue also. Changed the programmer and it went away. Not a big superchips can since then.

Mine is on the firewall next to my clutch master cylinder. There should be wires running from the battery, into the engine harness, and to the pump from the relay block. I'm trying to attach a photo of the way I have mine setup. I can't figure out how to post it to the thread but if you look on my profile under the pictures in the album titled " my truck " I was able to post them in there.
