Hey guys I a 01 1 ton 6spd and just installed new clutch assembly slave and master cylinder got it all back together and for some odd reason the truck is stuck in 4wd...I've checked all the vac lines and no leaks and it seems to be getting vac at the transfer case I took the linkage off and manually pulled the lever into 4 hi then backed up then pulled it back into 2wd and backed up no luck. Almost acts like it's stuck in low because I can't go over 35mph without screaming in 6th...any insight would be awesome id rather not take it to the shop due to I just spent all my money on the clutch and everything thanks in advance!
So update is I got vacuum through the black line all the way to the front axle but nothing ever in the red line no matter where the 4wd lever is could it be the switch on the transfer that is doing this maybe just bad? I tried doing a quick search but nothing came up thanks in advance
Ok so the ball on the switch is free and easy moving but I did discover the green line that runs up with the main source of vacuum is disconnected I can't find where it goes any help?
So that green lines a vent I guess and the only vacuum I am getting is from the main line that runs from the motor down to the switch on top of the transfer does this mean the switch is bad since there is no vacuum past it?? Can anybody please help me?!!?
2 Gen dodge four wheel drive Vacuum switch routing
It maybe a switch not porting. But I would check and make sure your Vacuum line routing is correct to the switch. Also check that you have the gray hose going to the supply and the check valve is the right direction.
here is a picture.
The line at the 12 o'clock position on the diagram is the supply check the check valve and switch vacuum routing.
The plug on mine has 4 hoses on it with two alignment dowels on the switch. It's hooked right according to the diagram I had found and I'm getting vacuum in the gray line down to the switch but nothing after that at all anywhere so to me the switch isn't moving and it's not allowing any vacuum by it?? And if I manually switch the transfer under the truck I still can't get over 35mph is there something else wrong here? Or is it just locked in 4 low?
It could be stuck. i would remove the switch and manually push the ball on the switch in and see if it unlocks the front differential. Or use a hose to bypass the switch to activate the diaphragm.
So I pulled the switch and the ball moves fairly easy and I stuck my finger down in the transfer where the switch screws in and I can feel the stud then feel no stud when I move the lever from 2wd to 4wd is it possible maybe the switch is just bad somehow? And will this keep me from going over 30mph too or is something else going on maybe?
