Default Identify transmission in my 99

Hi... I just bought a '99 3500 dually 4x4. It's got a Dodge remanufactured tag on the trans.
It's all set up with about everything you can think of. It's got a Mag Hytec trans pan, a cooler with a fan, an edge chip, a Gear Vendors OD, a Kelderman air-ride rear suspension, Alcoas, etc.

What I'm wondering is what I've got in the transmission. Since it's got everything else, it seems likely it might already have a good torque converter and valve body, but is there any way to tell short of dissembling it?

This is far from my first truck but its my first diesel and my first Dodge.

That's a hard call for sure I would say for sure it's a 48re . I would try my hardest to find the guy who owned it before.
good luck. Maybe through car fax or dmv.

I would be willing to bet its probably a 47re. And unless you are law enforcement or govt you wont be able to find out who the owner was prior to you. Check the TC by looking through the inspection cover.

I'll need to pull the pan to put fresh fluid & filter in it and can poke around but I don't know how to tell if it's got a stock valve body or not.
I'll have a look at the converter through the cover, hopefully if it's an aftermarket billet unit it'll have a visible tag on it. Are the stock ones normally painted a certain color?

the stock ones will have nubs on the front of the convertor rather than a smooth front of a billet one. they all come in different colors.

Thanks for the tip about the torque converter, that's the kind of stuff I wanted to know.
It works fine and shifts fine.
Next month I'll be carrying a big camper and towing a 10,000 pound trailer from WA to Nevada, over lots of mountains.
I know what I need, I just don't know what I've got!

The TQ appears to have the little nubs, and it's unpainted.
How soft do these trucks shift stock? Really mushy, can't-feel-the-shifts, or halfway firm... ??
Mine seems to shift pretty firm.

How do I identify whether it's got a stock valvebody or not?
