Default Best Programmer For Me

I have a 2001 24 valve & have done a lot to it cosmetically, but now I think it's time for a programmer. I really don't tow a whole lot so towing power isn't a big deal one way or another for me.
Honestly, I'm young & need to be getting better fuel mileage to be able to afford my diesel bills. And on top of that, I'm young and want to be able to have some fun and see some good smoke every once in a while.
I know the smoke is a touchy subject on sites and stuff like this and I'm aware that it can make the diesel world look bad, but I'm not just going to go around town smoking on people. I'll leave it on the best setting for fuel economy 99% of the time and change it to a setting where it'll dump some smoke for messing around with my friends.
I've heard different opinions on these two programmers but judging by what you've heard from me and what Im looking for id appreciate to hear what you think about the two and which one id enjoy the most! Thanks

The best thing to do for Fuel Mileage is to keep your foot out of it. Most tuners start at the $400-500 mark. All that for maybe a couple MPG's. I think you would be better with gauges.

I also have a 2001. I got a quadzilla adrenaline with the pulse monitor and it does pretty well as far as fuel economy goes. But smoke wise it will do very well for you. You turn it up to 10 and it will smoke to your hearts desire and has great power, but with that I would strongly recommend a fass or airdog, the stock pump just can't keep up with the amount of fuel it demands. The issue is getting your hands on one, quadzilla is no longer in business so you can order one from them, the best way to find it is search eBay or craigslist or find somebody on the site that is selling one.

But the thing about get a quad is you wont have tech support, plus you run the chance of getting a bad box. But like you said the things that need to be done first would be fueling along with gauges (Pyro, boost, Fuel pressure). Trans will need to be beefed up to meet the demands put on it by the motor. "Blowing Smoke" will cause your EGT's to go through the roof if you aren't careful.

I would like to check out the new smarty touch. I have seen it online but haven't heard anyone talk about it.

You need a good lift pump before you put a box on it. If you put a box on it without upgrading the lift pump and go out raw hidin and blowin smoke with your buddies payin the fuel bill will be the least of your worries when the injection pump goes out. It's better to be safe than sorry.
