What does this truck have on it? 2wd or 4wd? auto or manual? Fuel system upgrades?

4wd auto, power everything, no fuel upgrades, bone stock. Its pretty beat on the out side. I do not really care about that.

the owner did say the trans is showing its age.

A rebuilt HD trans will run you about 3000 and up. but to have it built right if you plan on power adders you would be looking at closer to 5000. But if the price is good and its what you are looking for I say go for it. Just make sure if you get it get a fuel pressure gauge at a minimum. Once the lift pump goes out your VP is not far behind.

yea I am not really stoked about the auto trans, I really want a manual. However its hard to find manuals, plus truck prices have really gone up in the last year. This truck dude wants 4500 for. The rest want 8k for a truck with 200K +

4500 isn't to bad. I would get a independent mechanic to give it a once over before you swap money for it. just for piece of mind. And if you trans craps out on you, you can always do the NV4500 swap.

haha yea would love to swap in a nv4500 but there hard to find. My buddy has been trying to swap in a 5600 or a g56 for a few years in his 06 but can not find one.
NV4500s are a little more common, but still hard to find used.

When it comes time for me to swap I am just going to buy "new". There are a few places online where you can get one with the 5th gear fix and all the goodies needed to bolt it in (except for pedal assy and drive shafts), But 3500 for everything TO ME that's not bad. Yes I know there is cheaper but I don't want someones trash that has been polished up.

http://www.high-impact.net/NV4500%20...%20Cummins.htm Here is the site I was looking at, They provide everything but the pedals and drive shaft/s depending on your application.
