Default skipping around 30 to 45 mph

I've got a 98.5 2500 Cummins and it seems to be rather sluggish and not quite as strong as it should be if I'm accelerating normally it feels like it's skipping at 30 mph all the way thru 45 if I give it throttle it stops or if I hit my overdrive off button it stops any suggestions or ideas?

Sounds like you are having an issue with electrical noise. Usually caused by the alternator. I bandaided mine with a noise filter.

Alright well to add to the problem the truck quit on me this morning as soon as I pulled out of my drive way it skipped a few times before 30 mph and then just quit. I cranked it right back up it was skipping awful for bout 10 seconds then the truck shut off and wouldn't start back up had to get it towed back to my house

Well I don't have a fuel pressure gauge but its the stock injectors and fuel pump is there a way I can check it? I know the after market fuel pumps can run too much pressure sometimes but that was why I haven't gotten after market pump yet

Easiest way for you to check it right now is get a pressure gauge that hooks into the valve on the side of the VP. Without monitoring what your pressure is or was, you lift pump could have gone out and now your VP could/is suffering because of that. I would get it towed to a shop and get them to check it out.

Could I still check the pressure even though it won't stay running now? Still a newbie to this

If you can get the lift pump to run you should be able to monitor pressure just to see if you are getting anything. Just bump the starter and first listen for pump running, then hook into the test port on the VP.
