Default DRW LB to SRW SB (2wd)

I want to do a DRW LB to SRW SB conversion on my 2000 ram 3500. I know the rear dana 80 is a bit wider but besides that my question is can I cut the back of the frame behind the spring mounts and drop a diesel short bed right on, or will I have to slide the axle and spring mounts forward and shorten the driveline etc.?

Doing such a conversion would take a lot of work. you would have to probably cut and reweld the rear suspension, have to get a new shorter drive shaft, cut the excess frame, cut the old bed mounts and reweld them as well. I was reading the other day a guy that went from DRW to SRW the the dana 80 will stick out about 2 inches on either side. But he kept the same bed length. So I would do one of the 2 leave it as a long bed or sell it and buy a short bed.
