Default 98 cummins slow as sh*t

ok so i've had a couple diesels before this. i had a 92 with fuel turned up, timing advanced, fuel pin and gov spring. also i bought an 05 that was bone stock. anyways i just bought a 98 24v and it feels like it's ungodly slow. it will do 80 no problem but it takes forever to get there. it will hardly keep up with traffic. it has 290k miles. is this an injection pump problem? or perhaps something else, i'm getting no codes.

you need some MODS is that what is it ... burn some cash and burn more fuel then you will go fast , all vehicles are slow unless you put some dough in it

the first thing i would do is get gauges and see where everything is at. if you have low fuel pressure or low boost pressure, that will result in low power. plus if you can, go test drive a cummins "same model" and feel the power of it so you have something to compare to. if pressures all check out, my next step would be trans. a bad converter can make a truck really feel slow.

First start with gauges, then work on upgrades start with trans and fuel delivery first then work towards the motor. This way you know how far you can go power wise and know if you keep it within range you shouldnt break under reasonable conditions.

I know how you feel with it being slow. This past weekend I put an Edge Juice w/ Attitude on my vehicle. It really wakes it up like a completely different truck.

i will go with piping, intake and lift pump first ... then gauges and a tuner toward to the engine with some fuel injector and turbo then finally trany ... now you the got power you want ..

2001 airdog 150 k&n fast air , 4 inch over 8 inch stack , custom 5 inch intake elbow , edge juice w Attitude , 200HP injectors , fat boy low pressure turbo ... trany still in proses and much more to do

Ok, first of all I'm not trying to hop up this truck yet, I'm trying to get it to run correctly first. I have to floor it in every gear just to get up to speed. I don't need any advice on hop up parts. This truck is much slower than any other stock 24v I have driven.
I'm going to put gauges in it next time I'm back home. Also I have a rebuilt manual trans so no possible torque converter problem. Has anybody had a problem with the injection pump wearing out and throwing no codes?

Will that somehow fix the fact that my truck has less than stock power? Once again I don't need advice on tuners or hopping it up. I need advice on what could cause my truck to have far less than stock power.

How do I reset that? Just unhook the batteries and let it reset?
