Default Need opinions on truck issue!!

Recently bought my truck and took it to a local diesel shop to get inspected, well it came back with some bad news. I thought the truck sounded great, no leaks no nothing was wrong, so I thought, guy came back telling me that the sway bar and front ball joints need replacing, rear main seal, turbo is blowing exhaust back into the engine, causing the turbo to have a problem also. Coming out to be around $7000 in parts and labor. Bought the truck for $9000. Is this all worth fixing?? Engine has 214xxx miles, interior is mint, and paint and body is perfect, lifted and 33's, air bags in the back, new cold air intake. Im inbetween thoughts. I need help! What should I do?

It all depends...are you planning on keeping the truck for a while? If you like to get something new every few years I wouldnt recommend it. But if this is something you plan on keeping I would say go for it. But if you plan on getting these items replaced I would google parts and see if you can find them cheeper. $7000 is pretty high if what needs to be replaced are what you listed. Search for your parts online and either fix what you can or get a trustworthy mechanic to do the work.

I had them just do the sway bar and ball joints, leave the turbo and seals alone because I can do the turbo myself, and then the seals I'm going to save up and look around and see if I can find someone to do it somewhat cheap.

What turbo's would be good to replace with?

Im not wure about the turbo. I dont plan on touching mine at the moment. I have seen many other talk about the super b turbo and how good it is. Im not touching mine because I feel if I started changing/modding anything my mileage will fall (maybe Im just gun shy but I had a 4 banger truck years ago that got about 25 mpg changed the exhaust and it dropped to about 16).

But to each his own.

How much oil do you have leaking?

Sounds like this mechanic likes money. I'd get some more opinions
