Hello my fellow friends. Wanted to get together with the people who have actually done the swap of putting a NV5500 in over the auto transmission. Mine has 265K on the original tranny and is still kicking but, I wanted a truck with a manual transmission but I could not pass up this deal on my truck. Now I am a Heavy Truck Tech, but I would like to know if Im just heading into a headache or something than can be done right the first time.
So far I know I will need a Transmission, Fly wheel, Clutch pedal, and all that fine and dandy stuff to work the clutch forks, and re flash my pcm so my cummins ecm knows I have a manual instead of a auto, transfer case since its a 4x4. drive shafts. Cross member. anything else Im forgetting? probably the VSS. Or should I just spend the money and get it built when she finally kicks the bucket. (if she ever will) I tow with this truck not a race truck at all. So if ya done it give me an idea how much it sucked to do and the cost. Thanks!
