HO vs SO factory options?
Does anyone know if the 6 speed was only offered in the HO, or was it available in the SO? This site seems to say 6 speed only with the HO. http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/Facts/01ISBspecs.html I'm hoping that I didn't buy an HO, as I want to make around 600-650hp down the road.
you double posted...
And it depends on the year.
99.5-00.5 was the first offering of the optional NV5600 6-spd manual trans.
in those particular years, the NV5600 had a 1 1/4" input shaft like the NV4500, and the motors were identical. (standard output)
in 01-02 the NV5600 was upgraded to a 1 3/8" input shaft, the clutch and flywheel of the engine were slightly larger, and the engine was changed to the high output model which had several changes from the standard output model.
The HO motors had slightly higher compression, smaller injectors, higher injection pressure via injection pump, but smaller plungers in the injection pump, and a few other subtle differences.

only the HO in 01.
99-00 had the SO option but the NV5600 was a bit weaker.
600-650hp can be done on a HO motor.
either by swapping a SOVP44 on there, or one of the performance aftermarket versions (monster or dragonfire) or just P-Pump it...
