Rear Diff Questions
Hey all,
How do I tell which rear diff I have?? I am replacing my pinion seal this weekend and have not idea whether I have a Dana 70 or a Dana 80.
Also the output shaft seal on my transfer casing is pissing and I'm replacing that, but don't know which one that is either...
Any help in figuring this out would be great.
Cheers
Len

If I am wrong someone correct me.
Dana 70 was on 2500 with an Auto or 6 Spd. Dana 80 came on 1 tons and 2500 with 5 spd. I know the last one for sure because my 5 spd has an 80 haha.
Another thing is I think the Dana 70 didnt have a rear sway bar but the Dana 80 did. Not 100% on that one. Tag under your hood should tell you which rear is under yours.
What are you confused about on the out shaft seal?

yes it will say on the rear diff on the upper right corner of the pumpkin by the pinion shaft and you have either a 241lhd or 241dhd they use the same rear seal you possibly may have a 271 low low chance
