Default Tranny

so i was driving on the freeway and overdrive was going nuts didnt want to shift, it did this for a month or so before all this as well. rpms were going up and down. finally when i got off the freeway it wouldnt go anywhere. still starts fine i can shift it through every gear from outside the truck. reverse lights turn on and all that but nothing else happens. i can shift the transfer case not sure if it actually works but any ideas what could have happened.

Well there two options either the tourqe converter is trashed or the trans is trashed drain the fluid in the trany and see if there is shavings in there and if you can put the rear end on stands put the shifter in 5th gear and turn the drive shaft it will take some force but should give you a idea of were and what uas took a crap on you...

how easy is it to get a full manual swap and to do it? ill check when i have a chance. my 12v was slipping like crazy didnt even have a first gear drove it for a whole year like that and never blew didnt even blow for the guy i sold it to. and this thing shifted fine on just all of a sudden o/d starts going crazy and then boom not going anywhere

Well the grinding means something has let go i always recomend lucas oil stop slip but its a little late but to do a nv5600 swap its a lot clucth, flywheel ,master cylinder ,new pedal bar out of a standard truck ,possibly a drive shaft swap as well and i wouold also thing the tranny mounts wouldnt line up cuting hole in the floor and lot of time the tranny tunnle in a auto is much shorter then a manual truck if you could find all the parts need it would be pretty streight foward but a weekends worth of work but doable

im thinking of just doin a light rebuild and then collecting parts if i cant find a swap

Suncoast has a full rebuild for 700$ i think it might be a bit more ats has a ready built for under 3000$

i dont want stock thats for sure. i will be adding power soon. do any shops do like half down and payments? what would having one built that holds say 1000ft/lbs cost?

Well i dont know about the half down deal but get a credit card and use it to only get stuff for the truck and pay it off thats what i do and your looking at a stage twofor sure maybe stage three 3000-4000 complete try ATS DIESEL PERFORMENCE there here in colorado there good people also suncoast transmission i do belive you can get a ALLISON trans also but i have herd that not totaly sure about that
