Random loss of power while driving

Random loss of power while driving
While driving, my truck randomly loses power. It has very little acceleration when this happens. It'll be like this for great distances. It seems to happen between 1000-1500 rpm. To get it back to normal I push in the clutch, and allow the rpm's to get below 1000 then it "kicks" back in. I sometimes just let it go until it comes back to normal. When it does come back its like the flip of a switch with all power there. But here lately these "tricks" have stopped working. If I run it over 1500 rpm it's just fine. I have had it in the shop multiple times and they have replaced the apps and the vp-44 with no luck in fixing the problem. I have researched and seen that it could be a map sensor issue. There are no codes. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had the same problem with my '99 5.9, (auto) cummins. The battery cables were the culprit. They seem to always loosen up no matter what I do. Therefore, the computer and thus the sensors don't get the voltage required to perform. On another occasion, it was actually the map sensor. Located on the driver's side block under the fuel filter. I am not a diesel mechanic, just relating my experience putting nearly 300k miles on the truck, you do run into some quirky and intermittent stuff. The loose cables also caused successive lock and unlock of the torque convirter. Repair shop's computer showed it was the sensor inside the tranny pan was bad. I thightened the battery cables and the problem went away.
