Default Intermittent power loss

Hey guys and gals,

Weird problem that I have been having in the last couple of weeks. What is happening is this,

1) while going down the road, the truck will build very little boost and my EJWA's boost gauge reads 0 PSI while my mechanical boost gauge will only go to about 5 PSI tops. As soon as I see any kind of boost reading on the EJWA, the truck runs like normal and has lots of power.

2) Fuel pressure is 13-14 PSI cruising and never goes below 9 PSI at WOT.

3) I have taken the chip out and put the truck back to stock with still the same intermittent symptoms.

4) I removed the MAP sensor yesterday and cleaned out with brake clean (seems to soot up more with the exhaust brake). Initial test drive after cleaning the map sensor, was that the truck ran completely normal, showed the normal boost reading on the EJWA After shutting it down for 10 mins and restarting, the same low power/low boost/no boost reading on EJWA was back again.

So Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing this? Bad MAP sensor? ECM? Could a bad wastegate be causing this? Sure hope it's not my VP as I replaced it not even 30,000km ago.

Also, I have experienced dead pedal before (when VP was on its way out) and this doesn't feel like that at all.

Thank you all for your insight and suggestions!

Cheers,
Bryan

sounds like pretty low boost...

I would check for boost leaks...build a boost leak detection tool. (something that clamps onto the intake of the turbo and lets you pressurize the system with about 10psi so you can squirt soapy water and find leaks.)

I've thought about a boost leak but when the boost gauge reads anything above 0 on the EJWA i have complete normal power and i can hit 30 PSI with absolutely no problems. If I had a boost leak wouldn't it be constant all the time?

sounds about normal ...

my truck blows through map sensors once a year or so... one of the down sides of running 75psi of boost pressure.
