Default piston position

Does it matter which way the piston is on the rod on a 24 valve? no notches looks like the cumbustion cup is centered

is this for your 01?According to my book There is a notch on the top outer part of the piston that must aim towards the front of the motor.

Yea it matters generrally the piston will have FRONT on one end of the piston.

If there are any number on the top of the piston, they go to the same side as the number on the connecting rod and cap. All numbers should face the oil cooler side (right) of the engine. If there is an arrow, it goes to the front. If there is the word FRONT.....well yeah, enough said.

Gotcha Ryan the #'s were there like you said,going to be reassembling engine this week when piston/bearing /gasket kit comes in

The new Mahle pistons had arrows, The block is reassembled & back in the truck, waiting for .010 headgasket should be here @ 8.00 am then back to work!
