thanks dieseldude i thought thats what it was but wasnt for sure.. do you know if there is a stronger yoke i can swap to?? i keep blowing u-joints out about every 6 months. so i thought maybe i could swap like a 1480 series yoke and u-joint in and make that stronger, but cant find a 1480 yoke to fit a dana 70..

I don't believe so. Is your truck lifted? If it is not there should be no reason as to why it keeps eating u joints. Make sure your getting a high quality greaseble joint.

no im not lifted.. i have used spicer, napa u joints and they keep going out all are greasable. im gonna throw a set of traction bars on it to see if maybe its axle wrap doing it.. i was also told by someone that on these trucks the only way to go was a solid joint?? havent tried one yet but this is my 7th u joint ive gone through. thanks for the info i appreciate it

Im not sure if this would cause them to go, but your driveshaft may be bent, and needs to be balanced, or bad pinion bearings?

Something wrong with the driveshaft or carrier bearing.

or your over torquing the u straps and pinching the cap into the trunion of the universal joint its self .... 20 Lb ft is max .... it will hold beleive me .... use a EP rated grease like Power Punch or Mystic #3

also have your shaft(s) spun balanced by a good shop ..... yo umay not feel the vibration but your trans and your diff can get trashed by just a small amount of vibration .....

ok thanks for the info, as for the driveshaft being out of balance i would think that as many u joints as i have been through it would have already trashed the tranny... im still on the stock tranny all 189,000 miles of it so far, have a built one sitting in the garage waiting for this one to emplode
