My 01 cummins rear is out, spider gears are worn. Question is what years axles will work and does anyone know of an axle for sale. Dana 70,drum brakes, 3.55 ratio. I'm told 00 and 01 are the same. What's the difference in earlier years and will they bolt up?

 

That's a very easy three hour job. Why in the world would you replace the whole axle? That's a job technicians call a gravy job .
No special tools, no hard work. Just make sure it goes back exactly the same.
Parts are under $400 iirc.

^ I agree, these diffs. have aftermarket support so getting the parts for your rear diff, will not be a difficult one. I would just fix what you got.
