Driving my bosses 99 24 5 speed this morning and was coming up to a stop light. all of a sudden i couldnt pull it out of 5th. finally jerked it out and couldnt get it into any gear. its stuck in nuetral and and wont slide over to 5th and reverse, and will slide between 1st-4th but will not go into any gears. If you have the stick in nuetral and release the clutch it will move forward as though its stuck in 4th or 5th. Is this a case of losing the 5th gear nut? or did i bust the linkage?

Yep, sounds like linkage. It isn't to tricky to get access to it. Remove the shifter boot, then you will see where the shifter attaches to the trans. Remove that, and have a look at the shift rods.

 

Well it sounds like a fork or the top plate is busted. Sounds like the boss is just going to replace the whole trans seeing as that 3rd and 4th synchros are out.
I feel pretty unlucky seeing as that its the 2nd dodge trans ive killed in a month.
