Default **Need HELP 2001-interm loss of power

2001 2500 4x4 225,000 miles, 4" turbo back, FASS DDRP Pump, relocation kit back at tank, 10k ago, original VP44, no other mods, meticulously maintained

*month ago highway travel 80mph starts loosing power, like you are turning off key, stumbles regains, stumbles regains, loses power all the way to shutdown. pull of highway, wait 5 minutes, cranks, restarts- drive 100more miles at 55mph to get home.

*change fuel filters, (early), same problem

**install fuel pressure gauge, never goes below 15psi WOT. Drive truck for 2 weeks, highway trip incl without issue

* today same problem on highway, looses power, let off throttle and engine recovers, accelerate, bogs looses power, limp home this way. Fuel pressure never shows below 15 psi the whole time

I dont know what else to suspect. I have plenty of diagnostic tools...could use help from you Pro's, Thank you

August in Austin Tx

Check for trouble codes and post them.

You also might try reseting the APPS.

1693 is a cleared code in the JTEC module. This is a companion code, so you need to get to the root cause.

When you checked for codes, did you do the key trick or did you use a scanner?

Check with a scan tool first. Your symptoms sound like a failing injection pump though. Is your check engine light on?

The key trick works only on some models and only reads one computer. Using a scan tool, you can read both computers and get all the trouble codes.

The codes are cleared after 40 or so cold/hot cycles, if they do not recur. So, the next time this happens, have it scanned and see what codes come up.

Also, does this happen when you are using cruise control. If this is happening, then one of the computers is messing up.

I had the worst trouble just yesterday so I do not think the 40 hot cycle would apply would it?
I never use cruise control...happens just running down the road. When the VP44 computer is the problem does it generally throw a code(s)?
