i have a 99 dodge ram 2500 with a 360 in it. i want to swap the motor to either a 12 valve or a 24 valve. what all would i have to do to be able to swap to the diesel motor and witch one would be easier to switch to.

and if i go to the 24 valve will the tranny bolt up to it since the 24 valve and the 360 are both 5.9

 

My advice would be to try and trade your truck in on a diesel truck. But if your wanting to do it go 12v for the simple fact that they are simple, no electronics. I'm not sure on the transmission.

 

the transmissions would be different. but i agree with BarryB, it would be easier to just sell your truck and buy a diesel. after buying a 12v for your truck and all of the stuff to make it work, it would cost more then to just buy a diesel.
