starter contacts
i just replaced my contacts a couple days ago one contact was pretty much gone the other was fine. someone told me that when this happens its either a problem in my ground or low voltage if this is true can someone elaborate on this i was told i have low voltage but my multimeter shows over 14v with the lights and heater on it does however jump from 14 to 12 i am told this is the grid heater cycling.

Exactly. thats how every one I've ever had apart is too. Same on gas jobs, mini vans bobcats etc. That style of starter is used on many different engines and they all wear like that in my experience. Crank away you will be good for a long time again

Don't worry. This is normal. Your altenator can't keep up. This is another reason you have two batteries.

If they were testing it while the grids were powered up the voltage reading would have been low. Your alt is putting out maximum amps during grid heating. When your amps are high the voltage drops. You would need an altenator 3 times bigger to not show a voltage drop during your grids cycling time, they use a ton of power as they are more or less a short circuited piece of metal that is meant to get super hot. If your voltage is between 13.6ish and 14.8ish during regular operation you are fine. They were probably trying to sell another $250 altenator
