other day, missed my turn, went to back up... dropped the stick in 4th to line up reverse, bumped 4th just fast enough to click it into 4th, but stick was already between 5th and reverse.
Anyone ever run into this? Anyone know which part of the shift rails are the most prone to wear out and need rebuilt / replaced?

quick fix, I pulled the shrouds off, pulled the top off, and shifted back to neutral with a screwdriver.

 

i had this happen to my 99 24 valve... i juat took the shift lever assembly off and cleaned everything up, and for some reason it was easy to pop out of that spot using my finger... unfortunately.. that worked after i pulled my whole tranny out... so i got lots of practice.. i know this may not help, but the same thing happened to me and it was just something gummed up in my shift assembly. My truck also has 1 000 000+ km..

 

X2, take out shifter, line things back into neutral, reinstall shifter. I had to use a big screwdriver to pry a little.
